What We Do

PERFORMING is one reason many of us joined Sweet Adelines. The chance to dress in sparkly costumes and sing on a real stage is a dream come true for many women.

Each year, Ringing Hills Chorus performs an annual show. All of us are involved in the planning and production. Our annual show is not only a primary fundraiser for the year, but it is also a major catalyst for the friendships formed as we work together.

SHOW THEMES have included:

  • Jobs and Occupations (Get A Job!)
  • The 1960s (Singing & Swinging In The 60s)
  • Matinee Melodies
  • Holiday Tea
  • Broadway Songs
  • Walt Disney Music
  • Old Time Radio (WRHC: Harmony Radio)
  • Songs With Colors (A Musical Rainbow!)
  • Swing Music (It Might as Well Be Swing!)

RETREATS in preparation for regional competition and our annual show are scheduled each year. We use these to polish the skills that help us move toward a higher standard of musical excellence and a more cohesive performing unit.

ADULT EVENING SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Ringing Hills Chorus joins various local Adult Evening School Programs. These rehearsals are advertised in the Evening School brochure of the district where we’ll be. In past years we’ve been at Owen J. Roberts, Perkiomen Valley, and Springford Area School Districts.

PERFORMANCES
We are often invited to perform for different organizations, churches, meetings, and special occasions. This provides us with the opportunity to reach out to our community and share the art of harmony.

RHC HOLIDAY PARTY is usually held on a rehearsal night in December. It is a time for food, fun, and enjoyment of the season.

A SPECIAL DINNER EVENT
Our Installation Dinner and Ceremony is held every spring to install our newly elected officers and board members. A highlight of this evening is the honoring of our Sweet Adeline of the Year who has been chosen by the chorus membership.

REGION 19 COMPETITION
Each spring with the twenty plus choruses of our region RHC attends our regional convention. The region’s choruses and quartets compete to perform at the Sweet Adelines International competition in the fall. Spending this time with and listening to our sisters in harmony is both educational and fun.

FLASH and SINGERS’ SCHOOL
Region 19
also sponsors two weekend educational events: F.L.A.S.H. (Fun, Laughter And Singing Harmony) and Singers’ School. Both offer opportunities to learn about barbershop singing skills and chorus membership. The presenters at each include Sweet Adelines International and Regional Faculty and Region 19 leaders.
